  The difference between the first presentation and the second are seen as in the first presentation everyone was getting to know each other but by the second everyone has an understanding of each other's work. Of course we still had Samuel and Veronica for help when we needed it. The project began by choosing what era we would do. We decided on the 1700s & 1800s. Something else that we had to decide was whether we would focus more on the 1700s or the 1800s. We chose to focus more on the 1800s since people know less about the 1800s than the 1700s. But we still needed to cover the 1700s so three chose changemakers from the 1700s and the rest from the 1800s. For the 1700s changemakers were Benjamin Franklin by Jason, James Madison by Claribel and Alexander Hamilton by Daniel. For the 1800s the changemakers were Susan B Anthony by Carlos, Abraham Lincoln by Cristian, Frederick Douglass by Aaron, Harriet Tubman by Alejandra, Florence Nightingale by Angelique, and finally Elizabeth ...

  This time around, the presentations were infinitely more interesting, mostly to do with the fact that it was about celebrities/people of note. Colliding with the aspect that I love a good, fun fact and learning about history, the topics grabbed my attention easily. The impact of “changemaker” individuals will always fascinate me, the fact that one person can/does have such a hold on culture. Starting with group 1, I learned that Benjamin Franklin had helped establish an Ivy League university (University of Pennsylvania). Another very notable American Changemaker following was James Madison, who also has a connection with an Ivy League school. He attended Princeton. I was also shocked to learn how petite he was, standing at only 5'4" and weighing 100 pounds. Daniel Valladares's coverage of Alexander Hamilton was a lot of information I already knew, since I am very familiar with the musical, but it was nice how enthusiastic he was while presenting. Taking a second look on all the changemakers through this presentation, I can honestly say they were some of the most interesting presentations we've had up to now. Going into this project I thought most of the presentations would be focus on the same historical figures that we already know. While some names were familiar, I started realizing that changemakers come from all kinds of different backgrounds and professions (not all are into politics). Some used politics to create change, other used journalism, community service, sports, music or simply their own courage to leave a lasting impact on society. Towards the end of the presentations, I had a broader understanding of what it means to be a changemaker and the impact they left behind that still affects us till this day. What I enjoyed most about the presentation was the distinction that every group had with each group having a different time period. This made it easy to see how the methods people used to create changed evolved...

During  our class time, we heard about other groups' projects, which helps illustrate how diverse individuals across different eras leveraged distinct communication strategies, platforms, and personal sacrifices to challenge oppressive systems and redefine the American democratic landscape. While looking at later historical shifts is informative, a deep dive into the foundations of American democracy and social reform reveals that changemaking has always been a dynamic, highly communicative process. By evaluating the legacies of Benjamin Franklin, James Madison, Alexander Hamilton, Susan B. Instead, it is a lively process that requires courage, flexibility, and a strong commitment to human dignity. By looking at the legacies of Ida B.   I really enjoyed listening to all the unique changemaker presentations because each group focused on a different period in history and showed how people have influenced society over time. Before the presentations, I though ,for the most part, that changemakers were just famous historical figures that everyone already knew about. However, after hearing all the presentations, I realized that change can come from many different people in many different ways. For example musicians, athletes, and even actors can all leave a lasting legacy on society. Some changemakers influenced politics, others fought for social justice, and some used technology or innovation to improve people's daily lives. What I found the most interesting was seeing how the methods people used to create change evolved from the 1700s all the way to the present day.   Aaron Begazo SPC1017 Prior to beginning this project, I was unaware of what a changemaker was exactly. I assumed it would most likely be U.S. presidents, governors, or other political leaders who had a major impact on the world. However, I quickly learned that there were many changemakers throughout history who were not politicians at all. In my case, I was selected to work on the 1800s portion of the project and tasked with learning about Frederick Douglass. I expected the project to be somewhat difficult because I assumed that records from his time period would be harder to find. However, I was completely mistaken, as I soon learned that Frederick Douglass was actually the most photographed American of the 19th century. As I began researching his life, I took my time trying to develop an accurate understanding of who he was and why he was so important to American history.
